Landel Carlisle Foils Burglary By Biting The Thief

Man Takes A Bite Out Of Crime -- And The Criminal

Chew on this: A man in San Antonio, Tex. managed to thwart a robbery by biting the burglar.

When an armed burglar tried to break into Landel Carlisle's home early Monday morning, he chased down the robber and got into a fight and actually bit the suspect, WAVY-TV reported.

The suspect pulled a gun, but Carlisle was chomping at the bit to sink his teeth into the criminal.

"He shot at me. I ducked the shot. I tried to get the gun and hold his wrist at the same time," Carlisle told KENS-TV. "That's when I bit his ear -- I bit something -- whatever I could bite to try to get loose of the gun. It didn't work. I punched him. That didn't work. When I punched him, I let loose of his right arm, so he had both of his hands on the gun at that time."

When the burglar pointed the gun at Carlisle, he realized he bit off more than he could chew, and jumped out of the car letting the suspect get away.

"I did a stupid move. I do not recommend anyone fight anyone with a gun," Carlisle said, according to KSDK-TV.

However, he warns the burglar -- and other robbers -- that he will be watching closely so this doesn't happen again -- and that's not just lip service.
