One Million Moms Targets '666 Park Avenue'

It was only a matter of time. Clearly having grown bored of campaigning against NBC's "The New Normal," anti-gay group One Million Moms has turned its vitriol against ABC's "666 Park Avenue," apparently for daring to include the "mark of the devil" in its title.

A post on the group's website describes the series thus:

The producers of "Gossip Girls" [sic] and "Pretty Little Liars" bring viewers "666 Park Avenue." The satanic and demonic series is described on ABC's website as a mix between "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Shining."

... The evil owner of the apartment building in the show portrays characteristics of the devil himself. Previews include terrifying screams, death, spirits, satanic symbols, mark of the devil, and souls bought for a price. It airs Sunday evenings on ABC (Disney owned) at 10:00 pm ET/ 9:00 pm CT.

The group is once again urging its supporters to bombard sponsors of the ABC series with emails protesting the content of the show, supposedly for the sake of all the impressionable children whose parents let them watch horror at 10 p.m. on a Sunday. The supernatural show is already struggling in the ratings, although the latest episode enjoyed a slight increase in the demo and overall viewership for the first time since its premiere, and ABC just ordered two additional scripts for the series.

Naturally, if "666" is prematurely cancelled, we're guessing OMM will rush to take credit for driving a stake through the show's demonic heart, but for the sake of irony, we're kind of hoping the free publicity gives the ABC series a boost -- more Terry O'Quinn is always a good thing in our book.

"666 Park Avenue" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
