2. thirst Smithsonian Spooktacular At The Equitable Co-operative Building Association
Six experts from the Smithsonian will lecture about six interesting subjects: guns in space, American-style Chinese food, indigenous tattooing, the colors of Mars, Indian Spiderman and dinosaurs. 7 p.m., 21+, $20 to $25

3. Dinosaur Jr. At Black Cat
We're glad the reunion tour is still going. We're glad they have a new record, "I Bet On Sky." We're glad loud guitars, bass and drums bring people who used to hate each other back together. 8 p.m., all ages, sold out

4. Low Moments At Pleasant Plains Workshop
Tonight is the Opening Reception for Low Moments, an interesting theme for a show. Highlighting "artistic misses," the artists will showcase works that probably should be hidden. 6 p.m., all ages, no cover

5. Those Darlins At DC9
You know how DJ nights that spin soul and girl group music are great? Everyone likes to dance to songs from the mid-50s to mid-70s. Why not dance to songs from 2012 that are being performed by actual people? Those Darlins are heavily influenced by those great records but don't sound like they're trying to recreate a bygone era. 8 p.m., 18+, $12
