Florida Senator Marco Rubio's 12-year-old daughter is home recovering now after being hospitalized in a weekend golf-cart collision.

Amanda Rubio, the eldest of the Miami Republican's four children, was released from Miami Children's Hospital Sunday night after suffering a concussion Saturday while a passenger on a golf cart in a gated neighborhood.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted Amanda to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit for treatment. The junior senator learned of his daughter's accident after a stump speech for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Kissimmee; the Romney motorcade was pulled over on Interstate 4 so he could immediately fly home.

"Her prognosis is good and she is expected to make a full recovery," the Senator and his wife Jeanette said in a statement issued by Rubio's office Monday, noting Amanda's condition was "stabilized."

“Senator and Mrs. Rubio are grateful for the many messages of support and prayers for their daughter,” added Rubio spokesman Alex Conant. “And grateful to the Miami Dade Fire Department and the staff at the Pediatric Trauma Center at Miami Children’s Hospital for their excellent care.”
