Mitt Romney has made no secret about his love for ABC's "Modern Family," but the presidential candidate recently named another pretty liberal-leaning comedy amongst his favorites. In an interview about his TV habits, Romney told TV Guide he enjoys NBC's "30 Rock."
"My favorite shows are 'Modern Family,' 'Justified,' '30 Rock' and 'NCIS,'" he said. "And although it recently ended, I've really enjoyed 'Friday Night Lights.'"
Yes, "30 Rock." The show that recently poked fun at Republican fundraisers, Super PACs and the election as a whole in recent episodes. You can watch a recent episode, which features Liz Lemon at a Republican fundraiser, below.
Romney recently came under fire for his use of the "Friday Night Lights" slogan "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose." In addition to a letter from series creator Peter Berg slamming Romney's use of the phrase, Connie Britton, who played Tami Taylor on "Friday Night Lights," penned an op-ed with executive producer Sarah Aubrey for USA Today. In it, the two painted Romney as the total opposite of the ideals the show exemplified.
"So as women, let's take 'Clear Eyes, Full Hearts' back and use it as it was always intended -- as a motivator for progress, power, and greatness," Britton and Aubrey wrote. "Let's use our clear eyes and full hearts to vote early. Let's use our clear eyes and full hearts to tell every friend, family member and neighbor about what's at stake for women in this election. What's at stake for all of us."
Both Romney and President Obama have listed "Modern Family" as one of their favorite shows. However, Obama listed another NBC Thursday night comedy as one of his favorites: "Parks and Recreation."
"When our family gets together to watch TV, we usually watch shows like 'Modern Family' and 'Parks and Recreation' because they give us a good laugh," Obama said.
