Jimmy Kimmel Gets Tongue-Tied Interviewing His Childhood Hero David Letterman (VIDEO)

Jimmy Kimmel Interviews Childhood Hero David Letterman

With "Jimmy Kimmel Live" filming in Brooklyn for the week, Kimmel got the opportunity to interview one of his idols. David Letterman doesn't usually leave New York for interviews, so with Kimmel nearby, it was time for him to nab one of his childhood heroes for a chat.

Because Kimmel has admired Letterman for so long, he got a little tongue-tied during the interview. He even brought out old photos to show Letterman how much he'd idolized him growing up. And boy did he!

For his 18th birthday, Kimmel had a "Late Night with David Letterman" cake, and his license plate actually read LATE-NITE.

"I hope I'm not making you uncomfortable," Kimmel said.

"I’m more concerned for you, did your parents step in?" Letterman asked. "These are warning signs, Jimmy."

It was a heartfelt interview, and it was clear how much it meant to Kimmel. Catch both men every weeknight on their respective shows. "Late Show with David Letterman" at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 12 a.m. ET on ABC.
