Miami-Virginia Tech: UM Grabs ACC Coastal Lead With 30-12 Win (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

HIGHLIGHTS: Miami-Virginia Tech

The Miami Hurricanes control their destiny in the ACC Coastal division after their first win over Virginia Tech since 2008.

Stephen Morris threw two first quarter touchdowns, Duke Johnson found the end zone in the fourth, and Jake Wieclaw kicked 3 field goals in Thursday night's 30-12 win over the Hokies at Sun Life Stadium, during which the offense managed just 3 yards during the entire third quarter.

But the Hurricanes held on to snap a 2-game ACC losing streak to once again sit atop the division.

"It's critical," said head coach Al Golden. "I know everybody wants us to be national champions yesterday and get back to the BCS games and all that, but the reality of it is that the pathway through that is the Coastal. It's almost like we have to re-educate our
team that that's how you get there.

"You get there by getting to Charlotte, and then you have a 50-percent chance of going to a BCS game... our fanbase doesn't really understand that right now. They look at the Notre Dame game and it's all in or bust."

Miami still has conference games against Virginia and Duke, both on the road. The Canes improved to 5-4 overall with the win, 4-2 in the Coastal.
