Staten Island Destruction: Photographer Tim Soter Captures Oakwood After Superstorm Sandy (PHOTOS)

Staten Island is still reeling from the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

Nearly half of the 42 killed by the storm in New York City were from the island, and many of those who survived are outraged at the lack of help they've received, decrying how once again, the "forgotten borough" was forgotten.

Photographer Tim Soter visited the neighborhood of Oakwood, on Staten Island's southern coast, bordering the badly damaged New Dorp Beach on Raritan Bay.

The destruction he photographed there is heartbreaking, and it's hard to imagine how areas of NYC like Oakwood, will ever fully recover.
