Let the voting begin in New Hampshire!

Two towns have the honor of casting the first ballots in the country. Full voting across the Granite State begins soon today, Nov. 6, 2012, and a record turnout is expected.

The opening time for voting in New Hampshire is 11 a.m. the latest. In some parts of the state, voting actually commences at midnight (see above) or 6 a.m., so it's best to check with your local polling place if you'd like to vote before 11.

The closing time for polls in New Hampshire varies. Most of the state closes at 7 p.m. ET and if all registered voters have cast ballots, the polls can close early. Two towns (Brookline and Kensington) close at 7:30 p.m. ET. Twenty-one towns (Amherst, Atkinson, Danville, Derry, Exeter, Fremont, Hampstead, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Hudson, Kingston, Londonderry, Milford, Newmarket, Newton, Pelham, Plaistow, Sandown, South Hampton, Stratham, Windham) and one city (Nashua) close at 8 p.m. ET.

There was no early voting in New Hampshire, so if you want to vote, and you haven't done so by absentee, you'll have to do so on Election Day.

Not sure where to vote? The state of New Hampshire has a website to look up your polling place.

There are four electoral votes in play in New Hampshire for the presidential race. The state has voted Democrat four of the last five presidential elections, including in 2008 when its electoral votes went to Barack Obama. See our election map here.
