Louis C.K. To Perform Hurricane Sandy Relief Shows In Staten Island

UPDATE: Tickets are now on sale through C.K.'s site. (h/t Gothamist)

PREVIOUSLY: On Wednesday's episode of SiriusXM's "Opie & Anthony," frequent guest Louis C.K. stopped by to talk about, among other things, his recent hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live." But he also made a few quick mentions of something that many devastated by Hurricane Sandy were hoping for: A benefit show with the proceeds going to those affected by the storm.

The benefit was confirmed by SI Live, which serves the badly damaged Staten Island area. Although Louie said that he will make a more formal announcement on his website soon, he currently plans to do two shows at the St. George Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Louis indicated on the radio show that he wanted to sell tickets for $90, which would actually purchase two tickets, with one going to a Staten Islander. But it appears that the current plan is a bit more complicated. According to SI Live:

250 first-tier tickets will be auctioned to the highest bidders, with an additional 500 tix gifted to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The next block of 500 will sell for $90; and the last 500 will be $45. Proceeds will benefit the burgeoning Staten Island Hurricane Relief Fund.

C.K. recently had to cancel his last New York City show on his tour due to Hurricane Sandy. The show was rescheduled for March 2.

Although C.K. is not a native New Yorker (he grew up in Mexico and spent his formative years in Boston), the city has been his home base since 1989. His current show, "Louie," takes place in New York, and much of his stand-up material revolves around his life raising daughters in Manhattan.

Immediately prior to filming his "SNL," Louie sent a heartfelt email about what it meant to host the show In New York right after Hurricane Sandy.

Check back at Louis' official site for updates on the benefit, and listen to Louie's full episode of "Opie & Anthony" in video above.
