Willie Geist said good-bye to "Way Too Early" on Friday after three and a half years of hosting the MSNBC show.

Geist is moving on to co-host the 9 a.m. hour of "Today." He starts his new gig on Monday.

"As you may have heard, I'm leaving to tour with One Direction," he joked on Friday. He said that he will continue to appear on "Morning Joe," and that Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski will take over "Way Too Early" temporarily until Larry King or Regis Philbin can be convinced to come out of retirement.

"You work in relative obscurity at 5:30 in the morning in exchange for free Starbucks pastries," he joked.
