Meditation: It does the body and soul good. Take it from Deepak Chopra, who hasn't missed a day of meditation in 40 years. In this "Super Soul Sunday" clip, he says that life is going to get better if you meditate, and that there are five main reasons why anyone and everyone should start a meditation practice.
The first benefit of meditation, Deepak says, is stress management. "When you have stress you don't sleep well, you're not good in your relationships, and there are biological effects," he states. "Your blood pressure goes up, [your] heart rate speeds up, you get arrhythmias, [your] immune system gets compromised. There are tons of data on why stress is the number one epidemic of our civilization."
Meditation will improve your physical health, your mental health and emotional health. But most importantly, says Deepak, meditation opens the door to the soul. "It opens the door of your soul so you lose the fear of death," he says. "It opens the door to creativity because we're connected with the source of creation. You start from the phsyical, move to the mental and then open the door to spirit."
