Hoover Tactical Firearms Uses Smooth R&B In Ad To Sell Guns To 'Ladies'

Smooth R&B Sings Praises Of Gun Store

An Alabama gun range is using smooth R&B in a radio ad targeted to "ladies" in need of personal protection.

"Are you ready? Are you prepared? Your best defense can't be that you're scared" a female singer croons in the catchy jingle for Hoover Tactical Firearms,a politically connected gun store in suburban Birmingham. As reported by Deadspin, the 60-second spot has run on Paul Finebaum's local radio program, considered by some to be the go-to place on the dial for Alabama Crimson Tide football fans.

"Everyone is equal. Protect yourself," the pitchster sings in a twist on women's liberation.

The 52,000-square-foot gun range and shop hosted more than 250 people for the Alabama Republican Party's election night party last week. The pistol-packing crowd didn't have much to celebrate -- Mitt Romney handily won Alabama but he lost urban Birmingham and the Electoral College to President Obama. However, attendees did get to munch on pigs in blankets and cookies while mingling with Miss Alabama.
