Shannen Doherty called 911 about a potentially suicidal Twitter follower Sunday night. According to TMZ, the former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star called the Westampton Township Police Department in New Jersey after reading disturbing messages made by a local 27-year-old female fan who threatened to kill herself if Doherty didn't call her. The woman also appeared to be in possession of a gun. Authorities later confronted the woman at her home; she appeared fine and unharmed.

"Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring," Doherty, who resides in Los Angeles, tweeted. She later clarified: "Police wasn't for me, was a girl on here who needed their help."

Doherty isn't the only celebrity to have come to the aid of others. Rapper T.I. famously persuaded a suicidal man from jumping off a 22-story building in Atlanta in 2010, while Demi Moore reached out to a reportedly suicidal fan over Twitter in 2009.
