A Plantation man was arrested for cutting off his girlfriend’s nose when she turned down his advances for sex.
As first reported by the Sun Sentinel, Rosita Rosario told police that she saw Ricardo Salamanca, 48, at a Plantation nightclub on Oct. 28, but went to her Fort Lauderdale home alone.
Soon after, Salamanca knocked on her door and wanted to have sex with her. According to the police report, when Rosario turned down his advance, Salamanca became angry and threw her down on the ground in an attempt to put her in a chokehold.
Rosario told investigators she was able to escape and ran to the front door, but Salamanca picked her up and threw her across the room. Police say the next thing she remembers is bleeding “profusely” from her face.
Salamanca allegedly told her, “That’s what you deserve, bitch.”
Rosario managed to drive herself to Imperial Point Hospital before being transferred to North Broward Medical Center to have her nose surgically reattached.
“The victim’s nose was severed down to the sinus cavity where her nose was only attached by a thread," wrote an investigating officer.
Rosario gave police a statement on Nov. 8, saying that Salamanca has been violent with her before. He appeared in court Wednesday and is being held on a $75,000 bond for aggravated battery, according to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records.
