Installing A Chimney Balloon: How To Prevent Drafts From Your Unused Fireplace (VIDEO)

During the cold winter months, there's really nothing better than cozying up around a warm fireplace. But you might notice some cool drafts creeping into your home when you don't have a fire crackling away. Luckily, there's a way to keep the cold downdraft out by installing a chimney balloon. Once inflated, this apparatus will block cool air from coming down your chimney. And, it's shaped in a such a way that allows a little bit of air to escape so your home will stay well-ventilated.

Installing the balloon is simple. First, place the deflated balloon into the chimney, pushing it up all the way (just make sure the nozzle is still accessible). Then, open up the dial and blow into the balloon to inflate it, checking every once and a while to make sure it's in place and fills the nooks and crannies of the chimney.
