It seems that since his retirement from baseball, Chipper Jones has used his downtime to brush up on historical conspiracy theories.
The former Atlanta Braves player took to Twitter Wednesday night to offer his own opinions on whether Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman in President John F. Kennedy's assassination. The episode comes a week before the nation sets to observe the 49th anniversary of Kennedy's death, WFAA notes.
Chipper appears to have been watching Oliver Stone's controversial film "JFK," a mostly fictional account that takes serious liberties with facts in order to further alternative theories of the shooting, the Guardian notes.
Lest you think Chipper is basing his conclusions on a historically dubious Hollywood tale, the former baseball star offers his own experience with rifles, as well as the famed Zapruder film, which raised further questions on the validity of the Single Bullet Theory and furthered suspicions of a second shooter on the grassy knoll, as evidence to his claims.
Chipper closes his Twitter rant by rebuking the findings contained in the Warren Commission Report, the extensive study of the assassination that concluded Oswald acted alone. In the decades since, many have questioned the validity of the report, accusing high levels of government of an intricate and elaborate coverup.
Though Chipper clearly rejects the notion of a Magic Bullet, it's unclear which of the many JFK assassination conspiracy theories he subscribes to. Perhaps when we do find out, we can also get his thoughts on the Magic Loogie.
