'Unusual Suspects': Dale Hausner Became A Serial Shooter To Get Famous

On "Unusual Suspects," it was the story of Dale Hausner, the serial shooter who terrorized the Phoenix area in 2005 and 2006. Hausner killed at least six people -- and authorities believed he did it for the notoriety. He was a janitor who never got the chance to live out his dream of being a famous sports photographer.

Even after police had recorded Hausner virtually confessing to the crimes, he maintained his innocence. He even held a press conference to pin the whole thing on his accomplice, Sam Dieteman.

"I guess I’m just guilty by association, even though I did not shoot or kill anybody," he said in the press conference. "I can’t believe this is happening, to be honest."

But it was Dieteman who took a plea deal in April 2008. He plead guilty to the crimes and testified against Hausner. Dieteman is currently in prison for life without parole, while Hausner received six death sentences. He was convicted of the six murders and 80 counts of violence and terror. He’s currently on death row.
