Gorgeous girls like Rihanna, Nicole Richie and Brandy, have all been photographed recently sporting glamorous waves with a 1920s feel. Much like the wavy hairstyle made famous by actress and pin-up model Veronica Lake in the '40s, this earlier version has a decidedly more sculpted curl pattern. And as these three celebrities illustrate, this 'do works for short, medium or long hair lengths.
Stylist Luke Chamberlain fashioned Richie's locks into a classic finger wave to complement the flapper-inspired Lorena Sarbu gown she wore to the Baby2Baby gala. He used thickening spray and a 3/4-inch curling iron to achieve the deep waves before pinning into a faux bob. A blast of strong hold hairspray and few drops of olive oil helped to set the style with a glossy finish.
