When we recently came across this photo of Daisy Fuentes palling around with fellow '90s MTV VJ Pauly Shore, it got us thinking: What are all these former cable stars up to now?
MTV VJs have taken many forms over the years. Since their introduction in the early 1980s, we would meet the likes of wholesome Martha Quinn, over-the-top Downtown Julie Brown and, in later years, brainy MTV News host Serena Altschul. And who could forget the bizarro phenomenon that was Jesse Camp?
We decided to look back to the days when MTV actually played music videos, back when Dan Cortese was Dan Cortez... and also to see how these TV personalties' style has evolved over the years.

Along with Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter and JJ Jackson Quinn was one of the original faces and voices of MTV during the 1980s.

She became a Neutrogena spokesperson and appeared in the short-lived "Brady Bunch" sequel "The Bradys." In 2005, Quinn joined Sirius Satellite Radio network with her own one-hour a week show called "Martha Quinn Presents: Gods of the Big '80s."

Brown became a MTV VJ and went on to host the "Club MTV" show in the late 1980s.

In 1998 she appeared on the cover and posed nude for Playboy. She has appeared in a number of movies and TV shows including: "The Weird Al Show," "Walker, Texas Ranger" and "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!"

Shore was an MTV VJ from 1989 to 1994. He also had his own show: "Totally Pauly" and memorably hosted MTV's annual Spring Break parties.

In 2003 Shore released a mockumentary,"Pauly Shore Is Dead," that he produced, wrote, directed and starred in. In 2005, he starred in the reality show "Minding the Store" and 2010's "Adopted," in which he travels to adopt a child in Africa.

In 1987, Quinn became a co-host of the MTV game show "Remote Control," a gig he which he did for three years.

Quinn went on to become a writer for "Saturday Night Live" and later a cast member from 1997 to 2000. He then became the host of "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" on Comedy Central in 2002. In 2010, Quinn premiered his one-man show "Colin Quinn Long Story Short" directed by Jerry Seinfeld.

Duffy became a VJ for MTV in the early 1990s.

In 1995 she worked as a correspondent for film-maker Michael Moore on his television shows "TV Nation" and "The Awful Truth." She currently hosts "House of Tiny Terrors" on TLC.

Daisy Fuentes broke barriers in 1993 by becoming MTV's first Latina VJ and later the host of the series "House of Style."

After leaving MTV she went into TV and starred in internationally televised ads for Revlon and Pantene. In 2004 Fuentes launched a clothing line and in 2009 debuted an all-natural hair care line called Daisy Fuentes Style Pro. Since February 2011 her perfume Mysterio eau de parfum has been available at Kohl's along with her five other fragrances.

Kennedy was the host of the late-night alternative rock program "Alternative Nation" from 1992-1996.

In 1999, she wrote her first book "Hey Ladies! Tales and Tips for Curious Girls." In 2002 she hosted Game Show Network's original program "Friend or Foe?." She now hosts "Music in the Mornings" on KYSR 98.7 FM in Los Angeles.

Cortese was the host of MTV Sports from 1992 to 1997.

Cortese had a recurring role on "Melrose Place" in 1995. He went on to star in the 1996 movie "The Lottery" and was featured in The WB television series "What I Like About You" among other acting jobs.

Bellamy was the host of several MTV programs including "MTV Jamz" and "MTV Beach House."

He played Skeeter on the Nickelodeon television show Cousin Skeeter. In 2002, Bellamy was given a co-starring role in the Fox Network television show "Fastlane." He is the current host and executive producer of "Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes?"

Rex became a VJ in 1995 and stayed with MTV for two years.

In 1999, Rex was cast in the television show "Jack & Jill," which ran for two seasons. He's appeared in "The Forsaken," "Scary Movie 3," "Scary Movie 4" and "The Karate Dog." He also starred in "National Lampoon's Pledge This!" with Paris Hilton. Rex is a rapper who performs under the stage name "Dirt Nasty"

Altschul was on "TV News: UNfiltered, Breaking it Down" and hosted and produced "True Life."

From 2002 to 2003 Altschul worked at CNN. In 2003, she was named a CBS News contributing correspondent. She now appears on CBS Sunday Morning.

Daly was a VJ on MTV's TRL for four years.

In 2002, "Last Call" with Carson Daly went on the air. In 2011, Daly began hosting the NBC singing competition "The Voice."

Tyrese hosted "MTV Jams" in the mid-90s.

After MTV, Tyrese embarked on a movie career with blockbuster films like "2 Fast 2 Furious," "Four Brothers" and "Transformers." In 2011 released his book, "How To Get Out of Your Own Way."

Minnillo was a host on MTV's "Total Request Live" from 2003 to 2007.

Minnillo has been in TV shows like "How I Met Your Mother,"30 Rock," "Psych" and "Hawaii 5-0." She also starred in "Disaster Movie." She is also now Mrs. Nick Lachey.

Camp was the winner of the first "Wanna Be a VJ" contest on MTV. He stayed with MTV for a year.

After leaving MTV, Camp started a metal band called Jesse & the 8th Street Kidz. In 2006, he was reportedly working at a Los Angeles–area pet supply store, and in 2008 he began working at a company called "Telefund" as a caller, raising money for non-profit organizations.
