Matthew Vaughn For 'Star Wars'? Actor Hints 'X-Men' Director May Get 'Episode VII' Job

Has 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Found Its Director?

On Nov. 5, the website Collider ran a story about "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn possibly being in talks with Disney and Lucasfilm about getting behind the camera for "Star Wars: Episode VII." "This is going up as a 'rumor' and 'unconfirmed,'" Collider writer Steve Weintraub noted in the piece. Less than a month later, that unconfirmed rumor is still going strong, thanks to a new video clip of actor Jason Flemyng.

When asked by a press member outside the U.K. premiere of "Seven Psychopaths" whether he had spoken to Vaughn about "Star Wars," Flemyng potentially revealed a little too much information.

"Me and Matt have done nine films together, so I'm sure I'll get the call for 'Star Wars,' but I'm sure it's going to be, 'Flemyng, no. Flemyng, I know on paper it doesn't look like much, but I promise you it's essential.'"

Asked to clarify if that meant Vaughn was interested in directing "Star Wars," Flemyng said, "I think that's -- he's interested, yeah."

While that's far from a confirmation, it at least lends credence to the notion that Vaughn has spoken to Lucasfilm about "Star Wars." Whether he winds up getting the job is still unclear.

Watch Flemyng be charming as all get-out in the video above. "Star Wars: Episode VII" is due in theaters in 2015.
