Dynamite In Vegas: Explosives Left On Las Vegas Streets By Unknown Suspect

Dynamite Mysteriously Left On Las Vegas Streets

Police in Las Vegas are looking for a mysterious person who placed three sticks of dynamite in the middle of a city street on Monday night.

An armored unit and the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue bomb squad were called after a security guard saw someone drop a suspicious-looking bag on the sidewalk, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

Officers discovered the dynamite and evacuated nearby residents, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

"They were just left in a bag," Las Vegas police Lt. Dan Zehnder said, according to UPI.com. "Witnesses said it looked like a vagrant dropped it off."

Investigators said the dynamite wasn't rigged to explode and there was no threat of explosion, KNTV-TV reported. Still, it was taken to Nellis Air Force Base for detonation.

Officers are still investigating who left the explosives.
