We're in the habit of pointing out the latest in ridiculous kitchen tools. We regularly bring to light gems like this collection of bizarre pizza cutters and this not-so-trusty electric cocktail shaker (trust us, you don't want one). But rather than tell you what kitchen tools are foolish, we want to know what you think.
We've come across five questionable gadgets, check them out below and tell us: are these kitchen tools good ideas or bad ones?

The 15 Percent Ice Cream Spoon makes eating ice cream easier. According to the site "the spoon is made of solid aluminum. With a high thermal conductivity of aluminum, the temperature of the hand holding the spoon will slowly melt the ice cream making it easier to scoop it out."

The biggest problem with a toaster is all the counter space it takes up. Well, that's no longer an issue with this toaster that rolls up and stores easily.

Hi Julie,
you have left a comment on my food blog urbanefruits.blogspot.com regading a shortbread recipe. Don't have any means to respond back so trying this chanel here. Hope this will find you well. #1: A funnel works much better, you simply hold the baggy onto the spout. This works well with both narrow and widemouth funnels.
#2 This would be useful in small kitchens like mine that have limited work space and counters that sufficiently overhang the front of the drawers. Without sufficient overhang this would just mean messy drawers.
#3 Don't waste your money on cheap plastic crap like this. If you are picky enough to want something for completely even slices pony up the money and buy one of the professional tools that will do everything bananas and strawberries to eggs and mushrooms to kiwi and tomatoes. They are pricey, but if you decide you don't like them can usually get most of your money back by selling them on ebay which is probably the best place to get one to start with.
#4 Better than a lid as it can be washed and who knows what has collected on the can or can opener. Use a small colander or spend a couple of bucks on a good wire strainer and you have a multipurpose tool will a handle assuming you don't already have one.
#5 is just ridiculous. Your hands will toss it just fine. Don't use a blade on up your salad. You should tear the leaves rather than cutting them as all cutting does is break cell walls causing the greens to wilt and make any sort of dressing you put on it watered down.

I love to cook and years ago my husband started a tradition of buying me "Trump the Cook" gifts for Mother's Day and Christmas. He goes to a great kitchen store (my "kid in a candy store" place) and finds the most questionable or useless cooking utensil or gadget he can find. A stainless steel pickle fork with a plunger on the end had me stumped for about a week! (It turned out to be incredibly useful.)
I doubt I'd be able to figure out what the banana slicer was for just because I can't imagine needing something so specific for something so easy to prepare! I just saw a cutting board for obsessive-compulsive people with exact measurements of lengths and cubes to use while preparing food to "French Chef" standards. I suppose the banana slicer would be a great companion gift with the cutting board!
The scissors look useful but with 3 kitchen shears already, I'll try to resist.

I own the Kitchen Art Scrap Trap but I forget to use it!
I also own the salad scissors (from Pampered Chef). They're great but sharp as h*ll! It saves money because bulk greens are so much cheaper than bagged ones! I just throw them in the bowl and cut away!

I could see the salad scissors -- enables you to just hold greens over bowl without getting cutting board dirty -- except I buy those Trader Joe's baggies of pre-mixed greens. (My idea of a great salad is one you can make in 3 minutes or less... )

How small? I use a little Black and Decker chopper. It was very inexpensive and I've had it for at least 20 years. I use it mostly for onions and nuts.

I may have the same one, "Black and Decker Handy Chopper plus," Between my parrot and myself we go through a lot of vegetables. Maybe I need a slightly larger one.
This one IS good for onions and nuts.

I wrap an used plastic grocery bag on the drawer under my kitchen counter with the top of the bag slightly open. As I'm chopping veggies and meat, I slide the waste into the open mouth of the bag. When I'm done, I tie a knot and throw it in the trash. No fuss, no mess, no smell in the trash bin from rotting meat and veggies :-)

i compost all my leftovers so the don't end up in the trash and being a vegetarian i never eat meat so thats no a big deal it would just be easy for me to transport scraps outside.
