Wonder Woman casting is underway at The CW. According to Deadline.com, the casting process has begun to find an actress to slip on Wonder Woman's bullet-deflecting bracelets, but the character is being called "Iris," instead of Diana.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. has confirmed the character's name is actually Diana. Iris was used for the casting breakdown to avoid speculation.

The breakdown for the lead in Allan Heinberg's origin story explains Iris comes from a remote country and has spent much of her life as a leader on a battlefield. "She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream," as stated in the character's breakdown. "It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs."

According to Deadline.com's report, the character has no social filter and can tell when she's being lied to. Golden Lasso anybody?

"Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere," according to the casting breakdown.

News of The CW's project, then titled "Amazon," first broke in September 2012. Lynda Carter, the star of the 1970s "Wonder Woman" TV series, told The Huffington Post she was delighted to hear The CW as prepping a new take on the character.

"Wonder Woman is a fantastic, inspirational character who should be introduced to a new generation. I wish them great luck and look forward to seeing it on air," Carter said in a statement.
