Marvel Comics Glass Murder: Erik Jensen Allegedly Stabbed Cousin To Death Over Collectible

A bizarre and tragic scene unfolded on Chicago's northwest side when a man allegedly stabbed his own cousin to death with a pair of scissors--all over a broken Marvel Comics collector glass.

Erik Jensen, 45, who faces first-degree murder charges, reported told police he was “play wrestling” with his cousin, 41-year-old Raymond Ogara, reports the Tribune.

The men had been drinking beer at Ogara's Union Ridge home in the 5400 block of North Natoma Avenue when Ogara allegedly dropped the Marvel Comics collectors glass, shattering it. The Sun-Times reports there was a heated verbal exchange that soon turned physical.

Jensen reportedly called 911 and changed his story to police after Ogara was found with multiple stab wounds to his neck, said the Sun-Times.

Alcohol was reported to be "clearly" a factor in the grisly murder.

The price of the glass that incited the violent murder was not disclosed, though eBay auction listings for 'Marvel collector glasses' show the highest priced item for a 1977 collectors glass at $55.

CORRECTION: Initial reports indicated that the victim's name was 'Ortega.' The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed to HuffPost the victim's name and age as Raymond Ogara, 41.
