Holiday lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo have been shining for a few weeks already as the annual attraction returns for the holidays.

The city's free zoo switches the Zoo Lights on from Friday to Sunday during December, all the way until the day after Christmas, according to a release from Lincoln Park Zoo. After Christmas, the lights stay on daily until Jan 6.

On evenings the lights are shining, early visitors (the first 1,000, according to the zoo) can pick up a free pair of "holiday specs" that enhance the light's appearance. Other activities during Zoo Lights include live nightly ice carvings, holiday trains and photos with Santa until the 23rd.
