Judi Dench Style Evolution: She Rocked The Pixie Long Before Anne Hathaway (PHOTOS)

English actress Judi Dench (or Dame Judi Dench as she's been known since being appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1988) has had a varied career that's taken her from the stage to the big screen. A true chameleon, she's played both Queen Victoria and a worn-out singer in "Cabaret" with equal amounts of tact. But she's probably best known for her role as the wisecracking matriarch M in seven of the James Bond films. In her first appearance in "Goldeneye," she got to call Pierce Brosnan a "sexist, misogynist dinosaur." Pretty badass don't you think?

Her style has always been just as great as her on-screen performances: down to earth, and yet enviably glamorous. Lots of regal dresses and statement necklaces make this Dame one to watch on the red carpet. Dench also won a place in our hearts when she wore a Swarovski crystal "007" tattoo to a "Skyfall" premiere. But her best accessory has always been her hair. She may have started out with a long mane but as her career went on, it got shorter and shorter until she ended up with her trademark pixie cut that we have to say puts Anne Hathaway's to shame.

To celebrate Judi Dench's 78th birthday on Sunday (December 9th), we are taking a look back at some of her most memorable outfits. Vote on your favorites in the slideshow below.
