It is around this time of year that we start to want to stuff every ingredient in our kitchens into mushrooms. Stuffed mushrooms have cast a special kind of spell on us. They are the earthy, comforting, old-school treat we always forget about until winter-time. But now, stuffed mushroom season is in full swing.
Maybe we love them so much right now because they're the perfect appetizer -- a hand-held, delicious edible vessel for other delicious things in a world of holiday cocktail parties. You don't need a toothpick, or really even a plate. Just a free hand and, if your stuffed mushrooms are as gooey and amazing as the ones below, plenty of napkins.
