The winter festivities continued this past weekend with jazz concerts, holiday shopping, trips to see the Nutcracker and dressing up the dogs (of course). We were also excited to receive submissions from as far away as Barranquilla, Colombia, and Melbourne, Australia!
A quick reminder: the premise of "Best Weekend Ever" is that as much as we all look forward to the weekend, it's also fun to look back on the amazing couple of days we just had and appreciate that time.
Next weekend, keep your phones and cameras handy to snap a picture of your activities and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or submit to the slideshow below. We'll feature it here on Monday's Best Weekend Ever slideshow, and add our favorite weekly submission to our "Best Weekend Ever" Pinterest board.

What I did this weekend
The District of Columbia Geographic Alliance teacher training to engage teachers and students in the Chesapeake Watershed Initiative. Here are shots from the first of four professional development trainings. Educators created waterfront property and discussed the various ways pollution is carried in water. Activities were led by Cathy Duncan of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
This weekend me, my mother and my aunt went to see John Lee Hooker, Jr. at the historic Blues Central in Anchorage, Alaska for the Alaska Housing Authority's Holiday Party. Clockwise from top left: me and JLH Jr.'s drummer-Mike Rogers; me, my mom, JLH Jr. and my aunt; me and JLH Jr.'s bassist-Tebo; and me, my mom and aunt. We had a blast with the blues/jazz legend!
I enjoyed baking a pomegranate mousse pie to take to a friend's holiday party!
The women in my family and I had a lovely dinner at Hutch & Harris in Winston-Salem, NC, and then went across the street to the Stevens Center to see students from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts perform the Nutcracker. What a fantastic evening!
