Elie Wiesel -- bestselling author, teacher, human rights activist, Nobel Prize-winner and Holocaust survivor -- recently sat down with Oprah for a taping of "Super Soul Sunday." During their discussion, Oprah shares an observation she had when she and Elie visited Auschwitz together in 2006. During that trip, as she says in this video, she came to feel that the human qualities of passiveness and indifference are worse than hatred.

"Absolutely," agrees Elie. "Indifference enables everything which is bad in life. And therefore, fight indifference.... The idea that the victim should say that nobody cares, that hurts me. Because we [in Auschwitz] had that feeling: 'Nobody cares.'"

"Super Soul Sunday with Elie Wiesel" airs Sunday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. ET on OWN.
