Should A Freshman Win The Heisman? (Poll)

POLL: Should It Matter That Johnny Manziel Is A Freshman?

This year, less of the Hiesman trophy debate has focused on which player played the best. Instead, the big debate is whether a freshman player should even be in the running for the prestigious award. During the regular season, freshman and Texas A&M quarterback, Johnny Manziel, had a remarkable season, placing him in the running for the prestigious award.

No freshman has ever won the Heisman. And, only two sophomore players have ever received the honor, Tim Tebow in 2007, and Sam Bradford in 2008.

On Wednesday, Hall of Fame quarterback Frank Tarkenton, appeared on Huffington Post Live and stated that:

"[I]f you're eligible to be a football player in the NCAA then that speaks for itself. This trophy has been given to be people who are eligible for that and play the best football for that particular year. I don't care whether they're freshman, seniors or what."

Join the debate! What do you think? Is Tarkenton right?
