Best Movie Golden Globes: 2013 Nominees Include 'Les Miserables,' 'Argo,' 'Lincoln' & More

'Argo,' 'Les Miserables' Among Best Picture Nominees At Golden Globes

The best movie Golden Globes nominees include "Les Miserables," "Argo," "Lincoln," "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Silver Linings Playbook."

The 70th annual Golden Globes will be awarded on Jan. 13, 2013. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the ceremony, which airs on NBC.

As had been expected, "Les Miserables" was nominated in the Best Picture - Musical or Comedy category. Tom Hooper's epic adaptation of the famed musical was joined by "Silver Linings Playbook," "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and "Bernie" in the Musical or Comedy category, which honors the best musicals and comedies of the year. (The term "musical or comedy" can be bent to fit the needs of the studios; last year, "My Week With Marilyn," a drama about Marilyn Monroe, was eligible in this category because of two musical sequences.)

On the drama end of things, "Lincoln," "Argo" and "Zero Dark Thirty" were all singled out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Those films are joined by "Django Unchained" and "Life of PI" in the category.

Last year, "The Descendants" won for Best Motion Picture - Drama, while "The Artist" won for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Both films wound up scoring subsequent Oscar nominations, with "The Artist" winning for Best Picture.
