'Grey's Anatomy': Shonda Rhimes On 'Taking The Show Back' From Its Fans (VIDEO)

Shonda Rhimes is one of the most powerful women in television, creating the hit shows "Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice" and "Scandal." But Shonda -- who is the head writer and executive producer of "Grey's Anatomy" -- says she finally had to "take the show back" from its devoted fans.

"I'd reached this place where I thought, 'This show really doesn't belong to me anymore,'" she tells Oprah in this "Oprah's Next Chapter" clip. "The fans are so vocal and they're so serious. The 'MerDers' just want to see Meredith and Derek happy, and the 'ChrOwens' want to see Cristina and Owen happy. And they're all online and they're all really vocal, and I suddenly realized we weren't growing at all."

Watch "Oprah's Next Chapter" on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
