'Jersey Shore' Ending: Jenni 'JWoww' Farley Talks Breakdown On Final Day Of Taping

When it was announced that "Jersey Shore" would be ending after its sixth season, many fans thought the cancellation was long overdue.

The same can't be said for the cast, however. "In Touch" magazine reported that the cast was informed that Season 6 was their final season when they arrived in Seaside Heights this summer -- the last day on set was an emotional one for Jenni 'JWoww' Farley.

“I had a nervous breakdown in the middle of the street, crying,” she told "The New York Times." “It was so bittersweet. That’s the house that changed my life.”

JWoww told HuffPost TV she also cried when she found out Season 6 would be the end of "Jersey Shore." Her co-star Deena Cortese added, "It was pretty bittersweet. We all grow up and you're watching us grow up. We're all going our different ways. So we'd rather go out on top than fizzle out and no one watches anymore."

"Jersey Shore" was one of MTV's most successful shows ever. The series saw a ratings high of 8.8 million viewers, but dropped down to less than 4 million viewers as the series progressed.

Chris Linn, MTV’s executive vice president for programming, isn't worried about the network in the post-"Jersey Shore" era.

“We were in a similar situation post-'Laguna Beach,' post-'Hills,' post-'Beavis and Butt-Head,' post-'The Osbournes,'" Linn told "The New York Times." “We’ve always found a way to reinvent and to stay connected with our audience.”
