UK TV Shows: Are Citizens Prouder Of 'Doctor Who' Or 'Downton Abbey'?

More UK Pride For 'Downton' Vs. 'Doctor Who'?

"Doctor Who" is the TV series viewers in the United Kingdom are the most proud of, according to a new poll. The Doctor and his antics ranked above critical and awards show darling "Downton Abbey," reality competition "The X Factor" and other well-known British shows.

According to Radio Times, "Doctor Who" received 48 percent of the vote, four points ahead of "Downton Abbey's" 44 percent. Plusnet, and Internet and home phone provider, polled 2,000 people across the U.K. "Coronation Street" pulled in 34 percent of the vote, "EastEnders" grabbed 24 percent and "The X Factor" had 20 percent.

Both "Doctor Who" and "Downton Abbey" have become hits on the west side of the Atlantic Ocean, with BBC America airing "Doctor Who" and PBS the home of "Downton Abbey."
