HuffPost Live was named Mashable's biggest media innovation of 2012 on Tuesday.
The Huffington Post's streaming video network was one of five finalists in the category, as chosen by Columbia Journalism School's Sree Sreenivasan. Readers' votes vaulted HuffPost Live, which debuted in August, to the top spot.
Mashable describes HuffPost Live as "the web-only video service... aiming to do to CNN and other cable channels what CNN did to the broadcast networks." The award is part of Mashable's Innovation Index 2012, which recognizes the biggest tech, digital and social innovations of the year.
