A 73-year-old man has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to poisoning his neighbor's two dogs and intimidating a witness.
Joseph Losinski pleaded guilty in Weld County District Court in October to one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of intimidating a victim or witness, both felonies.
Police and court records said Losinski feed meatballs laced with strychnine to his newlywed neighbors' two dogs in August. The dogs, a German shepherd and a chocolate lab named Kyera and Dozer Boy, were both found dead in their backyard.
After the deaths of the lab and German shepherd, Losinski sent an intimidating letter to a neighbor who was a witness in the case.
