Best Director Golden Globes nominees include Ben Affleck, Steven Spielberg, Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino and Ang Lee.
The 70th annual Golden Globes nominations were announced on Thursday, Dec. 13. The ceremony is set for Jan. 13, 2013 with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey as co-hosts.
Affleck was nominated for directing "Argo," which also scored a Best Motion Picture - Drama nomination. It's Affleck's first Golden Globe nomination for directing; he previously directed "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town."
Spielberg was nominated for "Lincoln," which -- like "Argo" -- earned a Best Motion Picture - Drama nod. Bigelow was selected for "Zero Dark Thirty"; Bigelow was also nominated for directing "The Hurt Locker" at the 2010 Golden Globes, but lost to James Cameron for "Avatar." She defeated Cameron at the 2010 Academy Awards, however, in the same category.
Lee grabbed his nod for "Life of Pi"; Tarantino, a Hollywood Foreign Press favorite, scored one for "Django Unchained."
In a bit of a surprise, Tom Hooper was not nominated for directing "Les Miserables." He was nominated for directing "The King's Speech" in 2010.
At the 69th annual Golden Globes, Martin Scorsese won Best Director for "Hugo." Scorsese defeated Michel Hazanavicius ("The Artist"), Woody Allen ("Midnight in Paris"), George Clooney ("The Ides of March") and Alexander Payne ("The Descendants") for the award. Scorsese lost to Hazanavicius in the category at the 84th annual Academy Awards.

Did Jodie Foster Come Out?
More on Jodie Foster's big night at the Golden Globes:
After being introduced by Robert Downey Jr., Foster coyly said, "While I’m here being all confessional, I just have the sudden urge to say something I’ve never been able to air in public. A declaration that I’m a little nervous about. Not quite as nervous as my publicist, huh, Jennifer? But uh, you know, I’m just going to put it out there. Loud and proud. I’m going to need your support. I am -- single!"

Most interesting theory heard at Globes: Argo gets Best Picture Oscar as rest of Academy overcompensates for directors' Affleck snub.

@ AmyKinLA :
Affleck just WON'T say he's upset about the Oscar snub. Says he's a member of the Academy & so are the filmmakers he admires. #GoldenGlobes

She Beat Meryl
Remember when Jennifer Lawrence said "I beat Meryl" and everyone thought she was slamming Meryl Streep and not referencing "First Wives Club."

Some stars didn't make the best-dressed list. From HuffPost Style:
The 2013 Golden Globes took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles, and true to form, brought out the very best in fashion and style. As it happens, they also brought out the worst in red carpet dresses, from misplaced cutouts to heavy fabric to frocks that don't belong at a prestigious awards ceremony.

The 2013 Golden Globes had us jumping for joy. Not because some of our favorite TV shows and movies won (yay, "Homeland"), but because actresses took style chances on the red carpet this year, making for an interesting awards show (and an amazing best-dressed list).
