Jovan Belcher Police Report Reveals Text Message Threat That He 'Would Shoot' Kasandra Perkins

Police Reveal Disturbing New Details In NFL Murder-Suicide

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher texted a secret girlfriend several weeks ago, claiming that he "would shoot" Kasandra Perkins "if she didn't leave him alone," according to police reports obtained by the Kansas City Star and Newsday.

Not only do the details contained in the police report, which formally rules the deaths a murder-suicide, shed more light on the violent final moments of the lives of the 25-year-old Belcher and 22-year-old Perkins, but they offer a glimpse of the relationship discord that preceded this tragic murder-suicide. Police had previously revealed that the couple had been arguing on the morning of the murder-suicide and that the Chiefs had provided relationship counseling.

According to the police report, Belcher told his other girlfriend that Perkins had "threatened to take all his money and his child if they split up."

A friend of Perkins, Brianne York, had previously told The Associated Press that Belcher and Perkins had argued about "normal couple stuff" but that she "would never have thought that this would be how it ended."
