We tip our hats to Boing Boing’s Rob Beschizza and his wife, Heather, whose recent video review of Denny's new Hobbit-themed menu, "An Unexpected Journey to the Toilet," is so hilarious that it requires little description.
The clip's narration -- spoken in a Hobbit-worthy accent that's set to a Middle Earth soundtrack -- follows the couple as they sample dishes including Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies, Gandalf's Gobble Melt, the Ring Burger, Bilbo's Berry Smoothie and Lone-Lands Campfire Cookie Milk Shake.
The pancake puppies fare alright, though Rob and Heather were not without complaints. "It tasted good in a way that only the worst food can," the narrator states, "that to say it was carny food."
The Gobble Melt, ordered by Heather, fared worse. "[H]er pace was slowed by the sheer mass of mayonnaise inside her sandwich, or we think it's mayonnaise. We're pretty sure an old fashioned diesel engine could make it to the gas station on what was left after she'd had enough."
Rob and Heather aren't the only ones to tackle a review of Denny's new menu. Stephen Colbert took a few cracks earlier this month, describing Gandalf's Gobble Melt as "a delicious tribute to a beloved children's book, though the breakfast has a much darker ending."
