Architectural Digest’s biennial AD 100 list is basically the Time 100 for the architecture and interior design community---which is to say, it's a pretty big deal. Such a big deal that the design bible launched a spin-off list called "Ones To Watch," which profiles (you guessed it!) up-and-coming architects, designers and artisans.
The inaugural 2013 list is a mix of talents who have grown up in the business and total newcomers. In the former category is Tommy Clements, who has collaborated with his mother Kathleen on homes for celebrities like Ellen Degeneres and Jennifer Aniston. In the latter category is Lauren Geremia, who graduated from Rhode Island School of Design before going on to work on Instagram’s South Park office and, most recently, the digital file hosting service Dropbox, where she designed the company’s 89,000-square-foot headquarters.
And then you have design duos like Steve Mongillo and Eric Walter, who started their Seattle firm MW Works Architecture + Design in 2007 and have slowly been climbing the design ladder to the top. There’s also Ariel Ashe and Reinaldo Leandro, who have been working together for five years thanks to their incredible similarities. “We have exactly the same taste and style, down to the smallest details,” Ashe told Architectural Digest. “I don’t know if that’s good or bad.”
So far, so good we think!
