It’s time to start making your 2013 Academy Award predictions. And in the Foreign-Language Film category, all bets seem to be leaning towards "Blancanieves." The Spanish drama offers a unique twist to the Snow White legend and is proving to be a big hit among critics.

Taking a few cues from "The Artist," the silent movie takes everyone’s favorite fairy tale princess and turns her into a colorful bullfighter. Up-and-coming director Pablo Berger is lending his visual eye to the project and Pan’s Labyrinth’s Maribel Verdu has taken on a starring role.

So far, "Blancanieves" has earned Best Actress and a Special Jury Prize at Europe’s San Sebastian International Film Festival. And it’s set to open the Palm Springs Fest on January 3.

But the big question is, will it pick up some Oscar gold? If you ask us, it has a much better shot than "Mirror, Mirror" and "Snow White and the Huntsman." Look for "Blancanieves" in selected theaters this January.
