NRA On School Shooting: Politicians React After Press Conference

The National Rifle Association's top lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre, said Friday that armed guards should be posted at schools throughout America to deter school shootings. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," LaPierre said.

The press conference, held in reaction to the Newtown, Conn. shooting, followed a week during which the NRA stayed largely silent before promising to lay out "meaningful contributions" to prevent similar acts. LaPierre, who did not take questions at the press conference, blamed violence in entertainment and the media for the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

His comments drew quick reactions from politicians, many critical of the gun lobby's response.
