Planners To Study Ways To Breathe Life Into Hart Plaza

The future of Hart Plaza, Detroit's most important downtown gathering spot, may be determined by a nearly $500,000 study authorized this week by the city's Downtown Development Authority.

In agreeing to hire NBBJ, an international architecture and planning firm that has worked on several projects in Detroit, DDA board members acknowledged Wednesday that Hart Plaza suffers numerous drawbacks that hinder its potential.
