When it comes to pinpointing which American cities are most desired, go west. Realtor.com looked back at 2012 to see which cities were most-searched on its site and found the sunny West Coast dominated.
Though results show real estate buffs interested in mostly warm weather locales, there was one high-ranking exception: The Windy City clocked in at the second spot, with home hunters apparently unfazed by Chicago's dramatic four season climate and notorious snowy winters.
Surprisingly, the eastern part of the country was passed over by searchers, with big metro areas like Boston, New York City and D.C. left completely off the list. Of course, that could all change in 2013 should searchers tire of heat, sun and cooler climates.
