One burglary suspect is really making a splash in Florida.

Chelsea Lane was arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into a home in Hernando County, Fla. and attempting to flee from law enforcement officials by doing the backstroke down a nearby river, Tampa Bay Onine reported.

A homeowner told deputies he caught Lane in the act of burglarizing his home. He began to chase the 21-year-old and, in an effort to get away, she jumped into a canal and proceeded to swim on her back to the other side. However, deputies who had been called to the scene nabbed her after she got out of the water, according to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office had received multiple reports of residential burglaries in the area between November and December, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Investigators say that Lane confessed to six burglaries, and told them that an accomplice, 41-year-old Richard Leach, would drive the getaway car.

According to the press release, Lane and Leach are accused of pawning the stolen goods -- mostly jewelry -- and using the money to buy drugs.

Lane has been charged with six burglaries and is being held on $8,000 bond. Leach was charged with four burglaries and is being held on $5,000 bond.
