Each month, HuffPost Chicago joins our friends at Tasting Table to highlight our five favorite finds from Chicago’s sprawling culinary scene.
After eating around the city, here’s what caught Tasting Table Chicago editor Heather Sperling's eye.

The holidays were a convenient excuse to revisit this excellent Old Town bakery, which opened earlier this year. It’s home to some of the city’s best macarons, and sablés Bretons so superior that we snagged the recipe.
The new brunch menu at this Wicker Park restaurant is far from a tired best-of list. We can’t stop thinking about the cornmeal-packed johnnycakes with apple compote, and the fried green tomatoes with pickled shrimp.
Taste buds fatigued by holiday cookie overload? Reawaken them with a jolt of chile, soy and spice at this new Logan Square restaurant, where Macanese-inspired dishes pack a wallop of flavor. Don’t miss the shaking chile whitefish and the Fat Rice casserole.
This new Lakeview wine bar (from the gourmet shop of the same name) is a supremely cozy place to spend a cold winter’s night. Shack up with cheese, charcuterie and an affordable, unusual bottle of wine.
This creative cocktail bar has always offered solid bites; now, with a new chef and an expanded menu, it’s an even better place to while away the evening. We’re partial to the lush, low-lit upstairs room.
