Though Justin Timberlake has apologized for the questionable video he showed at a wedding event, one homeless man featured in the film wants the star to do more to repent.
Timberlake came under fire in October when Gawker released a portion of a video that featured homeless people wishing the former N*Sync singer and his new bride, Jessica Biel, well on their nuptials, but also mocked the down-and-out interviewees. Timberlake quickly apologized on his website for the “silly, unsavory video,” which was produced by his friend, Justin Huchel. But one struggling man on Skid Row is asking for more.
Celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred held a press conference on Monday with “Eddie,” a man featured in the video, who’s now speaking out on behalf of all of the homeless people who appeared, CNN reports.
"We're human beings and we need to be noticed and appreciated, just like other people," Eddie told reporters, according to CNN. "Not just to take a video of a person and put it in a rich wedding and everybody laugh about it, or whatever, like it was a joke on the homeless people."
In the video, Eddie offered up a kind message to the newlyweds: "Jessica and Justin, I haven't seen y'all in a long time. My gift is in the mail.”
He is now requesting that Timberlake come speak to him face-to-face and look for ways to make a meaningful difference in his and other homeless people’s lives.
Perhaps Timberlake and Biel will consider taking that trip down to Skid Row, considering they’ve been on a goodwill kick recently. After returning from their honeymoon in Tanzania, the couple helped out with Hurricane Sandy relief by handing out backpacks filled with relief supplies to victims in Far Rockaway, Queens, according to the New York Daily News.
Before he hit the streets to help, JT tweeted on Nov. 1:
Taking in the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy...my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that was affected.
