The year is drawing to a close. The world did not end on December 21, 2012, despite History Channel specials suggesting otherwise.

This year featured controversies at big schools like Penn State University and the University of Virginia, an explosion of Massive Online Open Courses, a mass rebuke of Chick-fil-A on campuses and no shortage of "Call Me Maybe" parodies.
