19 Breakthrough Latinos In 2012

Say "Hello" to the New year.

And while 2012 may be in the past, let's not forget those breakthrough Latinos who will surely shine even brighter in 2013. On the political front we saw Republican Marco Rubio become a prominent figure in the GOP, while Mexican-American Mayor of San Antonio Julián Castro became the first Latino to give the keynote speech at a Democratic National Convention.

During the Summer, the world tuned into the London Summer Olympics where athletes like Mexican-American Marlen Esparza made history (twice) all the while the entire globe belted out Brazilian singer Michele Teló's "Ai Seu Te Pego."

No matter how they did it, the 19 Latinos above made a breakthrough in their careers and life that left an impression in 2012 and have a country eager to find out how far they will go in 2013.
